Slacker Blogger (really long post)

I know I've been a big slacker lately. I haven't had tons of time or tons of things to blog about, but here I am now. I have some exciting news to announce: Adeline has found her hands! Being an OT, this is very exciting for me. I was starting to think she was never going to realize those hands were attached to her body. I know it's only age-appropriate that she would be discovering them around this time or later, but I thought since I am an OT I could have her using her hands extra early..haha. We did some pretty intensive therapy over the past couple of weeks, and it either worked, or it was just that time developmentally (probably more the latter). She's consistently grabbing onto toys when she's lying on her back in her activity gym (usually only with the left hand) and she's constantly trying to get her thumb and/or fingers in her mouth (and being much more successful at it).

Last weekend was the first time she grabbed onto something and she just stared and stared at her hand holding onto the toy. It was so cute! Please excuse the outfit. Jon has made it a game to see how well he can shock me with what he puts on her Saturday mornings. I look forward to it every weekend. :)

Last Sunday we made our second trip to church and she was a perfect angel again. We stayed for connection group as well. It was great to fellowship with everyone we hadn't seen in a long time.

My MIL is an extremely talented woman. I was surfing Etsy one day and found the cutest crocheted hat, but it was about $30. I forwarded the picture to my MIL and within a week Adeline received a hat just like it in the mail. I'm trying to convince her to retire and start selling cute baby things. I think she could make a fortune.

This past weekend my parents came to visit and we had such a good time. We bought her an exersaucer and the box said 4 months-25lbs, but we put her in it anyway.

She really likes it, but can't stay in very long since she still gets tired holding her head up for extended time periods.

One of the greatest things that happened this weekend is my parents kept Adeline so Jon and I could go on our very first post-baby date. We went to MiMi's and to see Avatar in 3D. The food was delicious and the movie was incredible!

Our food was picture worthy. I had quiche and Jon had chicken pot pie. I finished off the meal with the most delectable hot chocolate ever!

Pictures my parents took during their babysitting experience:

They loved every minute.

This morning we all went to church. Notice how swollen my eyes look.

Adeline chose the first night in 2 weeks to not sleep until 7:30 to be the one where I had stayed out late the night before at a movie. We were up at 4:30 this morning, but thankfully she went right back down after eating. I always get so worried when she breaks her routine that she's going to start a new habit of not sleeping all night. Hopefully it was just the change in routine (my parents putting her to bed instead of us) that interrupted her good sleeping.

With her Pappy & Nana.

I'll leave you with a few cute pics and a video of the past week. Have fun watching the Super Bowl tonight!

  1. We are forming an Arkansas Bloggers group and would love for you to link your blog to that. There are absolutely no obligations. This is just a way for us to be aware of one another. I think it will be fun to see where everyone is located. Eventually, there will be an Arkansas Bloggers page. That is currently under construction. The link to the information is on my blog if you would like to check it out.

  2. So happy you got a date night! I am looking forward to our first night out alone. There is a couple that just found out they are expecting and they will watch him for us soon. Your MIL is very talented! That hat is beautiful! How do you help/teach her to grab things? Roman grabs at things and he even hits the buttons on the entertainer thing but he doesn't grab at the mobile things above his head. I think they might be too high. I don't think I have any toys to help him! So I think he knows his hands are there, but I am not sure? Does that mean he doesn't if I am not sure?
