Fun Stuff

We had a fun day today. We met Shannon at Hobby Lobby so she could help me with a project I'm undertaking. Adeline enjoyed shopping. I put her in the Baby Bjorn and she never made a peep the whole time. Then we headed to Jason's Deli for lunch. Adeline got a little fussy there, but I just held her and she was soon sound asleep. I'm making a blessing ring to hold all Adeline's cards that she receives during her first year.

This picture is all the supplies and my template that I will copy from. I'll be sure and let you know how it turns out.

A few weeks ago we participated in a book exchange chain letter. We've just now started receiving our books. It's so much fun. I read them all to Adeline tonight.

Did you know Karen Kingsbury wrote children's books? I sure did not. She wrote the one about the princess.

A few pictures of my little princess.

Family Dinners

I'm a big fan of eating as a family at the dinner table every night. (The only night this rule doesn't apply is Sunday. That's when we eat pizza in front of the TV.) That being said, we've started putting Adeline in her high chair when we eat dinner. She's still only eating breast milk, but we want her to start realizing that dinner time is family time. We put her Bumbo in the high chair and let her play with toys while we eat. She hasn't made it through a whole dinner just yet. She starts to get tired and her head starts to droop, but we're working on it. I can't believe my baby is growing up so fast!

Lazy Saturday

Today we enjoyed a nice, relaxing Saturday. We went to Sam's then headed to Grub's to have some yummy hamburgers. Adeline was such an angel the whole time. We then came home and Adeline and I took a long nap on the couch. We do this almost every day.

I know, I'm spoiling her and myself. I'm really going to miss those naps when I start back to work. It's the only time she doesn't sleep in her crib, so I think it's fine that I spoil her like this. Shannon may not think it's ok when she starts staying with her, though. :) I usually always wake up about 10-15 minutes before it's time for her to get up and eat again and I just like to lie there and stare at her beautiful face.

Tonight we had breakfast burritos for dinner with Jarrod. I love days like this.

Adeline's First Taco Tuesday

It has been a long time since our friends and family in NWA has had our Taco Tuesday night. This time, it actually fell on a Tuesday! We used to try to fit one in every week, but lately it's been about once every month or two. I hope we can get back into the swing of things. I went straight from work and then had to leave as soon as we were done eating so we could get Adeline home for our bedtime routine, but it was still fun and the food was delicious.

We even had a king cake in celebration of Fat Tuesday. Jon got the baby. I guess we'll be providing the cake next year...

Valentine's Weekend

This weekend, Jon's mom and her friend Cheryl came to visit. They spent Friday night with Shane and Juliet, but everyone headed over to our place first thing Saturday morning. We cooked a big breakfast then headed down to Fayetteville for some shopping. Jon's mom bought some yarn and fabric to make Adeline some really cute clothes.

Isn't this hat cute? Jon's mom made it!
Saturday night we just stayed home and got PF Chang's to go. It was yummy!

Today, we went to church then spent a nice, relaxing afternoon at home.

Jon made me a delicious Valentine's dinner. It is our tradition to cook at home for V-Day, we don't like to fight the crowds.

Tulip being not very lady-like. :)

I hope you had a great Valentine's Day!

Guess who is 3 months old today...

ADELINE!

It has gone by so fast! What is my baby girl doing these days?
  • Rolling over from front to back (somewhat inconsistently)
  • Laughing out loud
  • Sleeping 10-11 hours at night (knock on wood)
  • Eating 6 times a day
  • Reaching & grabbing
  • Having sweet baby talk conversations with us
  • Holding her head up more steadily
  • LOVING being thrown up in the air by Daddy
  • Wearing size 1 diapers & 3-6 month clothes (but just 3 month outfits are a little too short)

Slacker Blogger (really long post)

I know I've been a big slacker lately. I haven't had tons of time or tons of things to blog about, but here I am now. I have some exciting news to announce: Adeline has found her hands! Being an OT, this is very exciting for me. I was starting to think she was never going to realize those hands were attached to her body. I know it's only age-appropriate that she would be discovering them around this time or later, but I thought since I am an OT I could have her using her hands extra early..haha. We did some pretty intensive therapy over the past couple of weeks, and it either worked, or it was just that time developmentally (probably more the latter). She's consistently grabbing onto toys when she's lying on her back in her activity gym (usually only with the left hand) and she's constantly trying to get her thumb and/or fingers in her mouth (and being much more successful at it).

Last weekend was the first time she grabbed onto something and she just stared and stared at her hand holding onto the toy. It was so cute! Please excuse the outfit. Jon has made it a game to see how well he can shock me with what he puts on her Saturday mornings. I look forward to it every weekend. :)

Last Sunday we made our second trip to church and she was a perfect angel again. We stayed for connection group as well. It was great to fellowship with everyone we hadn't seen in a long time.

My MIL is an extremely talented woman. I was surfing Etsy one day and found the cutest crocheted hat, but it was about $30. I forwarded the picture to my MIL and within a week Adeline received a hat just like it in the mail. I'm trying to convince her to retire and start selling cute baby things. I think she could make a fortune.

This past weekend my parents came to visit and we had such a good time. We bought her an exersaucer and the box said 4 months-25lbs, but we put her in it anyway.

She really likes it, but can't stay in very long since she still gets tired holding her head up for extended time periods.

One of the greatest things that happened this weekend is my parents kept Adeline so Jon and I could go on our very first post-baby date. We went to MiMi's and to see Avatar in 3D. The food was delicious and the movie was incredible!

Our food was picture worthy. I had quiche and Jon had chicken pot pie. I finished off the meal with the most delectable hot chocolate ever!

Pictures my parents took during their babysitting experience:

They loved every minute.

This morning we all went to church. Notice how swollen my eyes look.

Adeline chose the first night in 2 weeks to not sleep until 7:30 to be the one where I had stayed out late the night before at a movie. We were up at 4:30 this morning, but thankfully she went right back down after eating. I always get so worried when she breaks her routine that she's going to start a new habit of not sleeping all night. Hopefully it was just the change in routine (my parents putting her to bed instead of us) that interrupted her good sleeping.

With her Pappy & Nana.

I'll leave you with a few cute pics and a video of the past week. Have fun watching the Super Bowl tonight!
