Busy Bees & Social Butterflies

We have had a FULL weekend and I've enjoyed every minute.  Thursday the weathermen began calling for an exceptionally cool Friday morning.  I asked a friend/co-worker if she'd like to meet Adeline and I at the park Friday morning.  She graciously agreed and walked a lap around Wilson Park with us after she had already run 12 miles!  Then, Adeline and I played a little at the playground.
It was not 59 degrees like the weathermen had said, but it was nice for a little while.

After the park, Adeline & I went on a search for a nap mat for her to use at Kids' Day Out on Mondays.  We finally found one and she seems to really like it.  I'll know for sure when I pick her up here in a few minutes.  :)

That night we dined at Chick-Fil-A and did some grocery shopping.  I was exhausted when we got home so I laid down on the couch for a few minutes.  I think Adeline was concerned about me because she kept bringing me pillows and toys, then she climbed on top of me to give me kisses.  So sweet!

Saturday morning my work had a baby shower for me.  Annabel got lots of presents and Adeline had lots of fun.

I got home just in time to eat lunch, put Adeline down for a nap, and get ready to go to a friend's baby shower.  Brandi is due about one month after me.  She and I worked together at HealthSouth.  Now she and her husband live in Little Rock.  We miss them!

This is what I made for their little guy.

As soon as I got home from that party, we packed up and headed to a swimming fellowship with our small group.  We swam for a while, then ate and socialized.  My poor daughter is as shy as can be.  She sat between Jon and I at the dinner table for over an hour while we visited with the other parents, while all the other children played in the next room.  Then, when we tried to get them all on the couch for a picture, she of course cried her little eyes out.
I just don't know what to do about it!

Sunday night I met up with my small group girls and we ate dinner then attended our church's Girls' Night Out with Anita Renfroe & Mandisa.  It was so great!  Anita was hilarious and Mandisa has an amazing voice.  I enjoyed it so much!

Today Adeline started Kids' Day Out.  She was a little reluctant to go to the teacher, but she didn't cry.  I'm anxious to pick her up and see how she did.

Look at all the stuff it takes for a two-year-old to be gone away from home for 5 hours!

I'm hoping this really helps her shyness, but it's only one day a week, so who knows.

Tonight I have another girls' night with my bunco group.  We are going to see The Help.  I read the book about a year ago and I'm so excited to see the movie!

Nana's Week (+ a little more)

My mom was here this past week, so I've got some fun pictures to post on that, but first I wanted to post a few from earlier that I haven't blogged yet.

A few weeks ago I took Adeline to have some pictures taken.  The next day she pretended to be a photographer and posed her stuffed animals and took their pictures.  I love this stage!

Tiny brought us a watermelon when she came.  We spent several evenings last weekend outside in the front yard enjoying every bite...and making a big mess!  :)

Monday we had a play-date with our friends Cilla & Rebekah.  These two girls just crack me up.  Adeline was not on her best behavior and had a really hard time sharing, but Rebekah assured me it gets better and it really wasn't as bad as I thought it was.

Cilla just seems so grown up to me.  The cutest thing she said this time was, "Mommy, look, they do have golden retrievers.  I told you!"  Is she just really advanced or is Adeline going to be saying stuff like that in 8 months?  We'll see!

When my mom got here, she helped me get organized.  This is our bathroom cabinet with our medicines, vitamins, & toiletries all nice & neat.  Yes, I know, nesting hormones are making me CRAZY!

Nana & Adeline had a great week.  They bounced, then shopped & dined at Ozark Natural.

And Adeline learned something new while she was here.  She has started lining up all her stuffed animals & babies and saying, "Sit up, sit up."  So precious!

They strung beads.

And ate & played...

And we all went to "Meet the Teacher" for Kids' Day Out at church on Thursday.
I can't believe my girl is getting so big.  I'll be sure & let you know how KDO goes on Monday.

Look what my mom did for me!
She bought then cut up & bagged all these veggies for me to steam for Adeline.  What a fantastic mom I have!  I don't think she realizes how grateful I am for this.

Like I said last week, all this grandma time is not only spoiling Adeline, it's spoiling me!

Sunday Fun-Day

We had our annual Tailgate Kickoff party at church today.  Everyone is supposed to come dressed in their favorite team's attire, which up here usually means a sea of Razorback Red.  However, you know me, I have to support my TCU Frogs!  I was a little bummed this year because a) they don't make TCU maternity clothes & b) Adeline has no TCU clothes that fit right now.  So, we improvised...

Adeline wore purple with a TCU bow in her hair (thank goodness those always fit) & I wore a purple maternity shirt with a TCU necklace.  :)

After church we tailgated with yummy hamburgers, hotdogs, and lots of various desserts.  The food was yummy, but it was HOT.  I'm so glad we got a shady spot.

Soon after eating, Adeline began saying "Go" and wandering off.  I think she was ready to get home.  We all took naps this afternoon, then it was time for more nesting.

Jon built this shoe shelf a while back, but we finally got it moved into the closet today.  There's a spot for each of our girls to have 15 pairs of shoes.  Being a shoe-lover myself, this just makes me giddy with excitement!

I have been wanting these prints since I very first found out I was pregnant.  It took me a long time to decide which silhouette I wanted, then what colors (primary for playroom, or pastels for bedroom), but I finally made my decision.  I found these great frames at IKEA.
They're kind of in a corner of the room, but I have a fear of hanging anything over cribs, so this is their home for now.  I'm so happy with how they turned out!

I also enlisted Jon's help to pack the diaper bag for the hospital today.  We got a Skip Hop Duo Double..it is huge!  I think it's just right for holding both our girls' stuff, though.  Since we opened up the newborn diapers to put some in the bag, I went ahead and put some in the girls' diaper basket by the changing pad.

I can't believe how tiny they are!  I also can't believe that Annabel will be here in 4 weeks...or LESS!!  We are so excited!!

Tiny Time

This past week was Tiny's turn to come watch Adeline while we worked.  They had a great time!

They played with stickers....

They baked....

They improved their fine motor skills...   :)

They snuggled..

They went on walks...

They went to the park...

Then pouted when it was time to leave.

They knitted... (or made a mess of Tiny's yarn)

They played with Ace & Meow....

And we all ate a lot of watermelon...

And I learned to use my new sewing machine!

I'm loving all this grandma time.  My girl is in the best ever hands (besides mine), I get yummy food every day, my house stays nice and neat, and an extra pair of hands around with a toddler sure is a HUGE blessing!

I've had a rough week, but having my MIL here made it all perfect timing.  I had a bad cold on Wednesday and stayed home from work.  I was able to lie in bed all day while she and Adeline played.  Then, my hips started hurting terribly again like they did with Adeline and I was able to go to the PT on Friday morning while she and Adeline stayed home.  I wouldn't have been able to take care of myself and Annabel this week if it hadn't been for Karen.  Thank you!
