Oh Me, Oh My!

We started off our week last week feeling great and going to swimming lessons.

I watched a YouTube video on how to french braid & voila..my first attempt!

Waiting our turn to swim.  I promise I didn't pose her like this.

Being cute.

Monday night we went to Fayetteville to eat at CFA and attend a little family concert at the library.  The firemen were at CFA letting kids check out their truck!

Day #2 of Swim Lessons

Then BAM!  Tuesday night at dinner Adeline got really cranky and complained of her tummy hurting. She came to get in my lap and she was burning up!  We treated the fever and put her to bed.  The rest of the week is kind of a blur of doctor visits, sleepless nights, around the clock motrin, crying, screaming, you get the picture.  The doctor tested her for just about everything under the moon and couldn't find anything, so it was proclaimed to be a virus.  She has sores in her mouth like Hand-Foot-Mouth, but nowhere but her mouth, so the doctor didn't think it was that.  I have diagnosed her with the virus that causes fever blisters; gingivostomatitis.  Jon and I both have fever blisters so it was inevitable that she'd get the virus from us, but who knew the initial onset of the virus could be this bad?  She can hardly eat anything that doesn't just slide right down, she won't let us brush her teeth, and she cries A LOT.  The crying has been the worst ever.  She ran a fever until Friday night, and hasn't had one since, but she's still not completely back to normal.  I want my baby to get well and stay that way!!

She's been sleeping a lot in our bed which she's never done before.  Just about every night since Tuesday she's come in to our room in the middle of the night.  I've also been letting her nap in there so I won't have to worry about Little Sister waking her up before she's ready.

Thankfully this sweet baby has stayed well and healthy through it all.

But I think it may be time for some new pajamas!

Since Adeline had been fever-free for 24 hours by Saturday night, Jon and I decided to invest in our relationship and go out on a date night.  I'm telling you, after the week we'd had, we really needed it.  Kalee came over to watch the girls while Jon and I went to eat AND to a movie!

Adeline was feeling a lot better yesterday so we decided to get out of the house and go to the lake with Jon's boss and his sweet family.  It takes less than 10 minutes to get there from our house so I don't know why we've never gone before!  Adeline and Bailey had a great time together eating doritos and swimming.  I let Adeline eat as many doritos as she wanted because it was the first solid food she'd eaten without crying in a long time.

And praise be to God that there's a rainbow at the end of every storm!  Adeline is feeling even better today, so I declared it a "NO TV DAY."  We had a lesson on rainbows instead.  We read the Noah story in her Bible, had a rainbow scavenger hunt, and improved our fine motor skills with some cutting and gluing.

She had to find something the same color as the piece of paper I gave her.

And when all the "somethings" were found, she got a skittley rainbow treat.

I know this is not the colors of a real rainbow, but they're the skittles colors.  :)

Now we just have plans to swim & celebrate July 4th!

If you're going through a storm, I hope your rainbow is on the horizon.

Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.

Back to Our Roots

We spent the weekend back in Texas, living the country life.  We had a big ol' shindig for Jon's dad's 60th birthday.

What a great way to spend Father's Day weekend.  Time with both our families and relaxing.  It was a short visit, but it couldn't have been more perfect.  It stormed all Friday night, and what good Texan doesn't love a nice thunderstorm?  Then on Saturday the weather was perfect for an outdoor party.

And it's not a trip to the country without coming home with a big bounty of delicious homegrown veggies!

I'm so blessed to have the three dads I have in my life.  Happy Father's Day to my dad, my father-in-law, and my husband.  I couldn't ask for anything more!

Road to Recovery

Last week we were on the road to recovery all week.  It took until Thursday before Adeline was back to her normal self again.  I volunteered at VBX every day except for Tuesday because I felt Adeline needed another day at home to recuperate.

Wednesday after nap Annabel woke up with this crazy, sweaty hair.  Too cute!

Poor baby has been getting bruises and carpet burn on her knees so my grandma bought her these knee pads.  Aren't they adorable?  She wasn't too sure about them at first, but now she likes them.

Thursday morning both girls woke up at the same time.  Adeline got out of bed and started to leave the room to come get me.  Annabel started crying as soon as Adeline left, so Adeline turned around and crawled in bed with her.  I watched it all on the monitor.  What a sweet big sister she is!

Thursday night Jon and Adeline went on a Daddy/Daughter date night at CFA.  It was really neat.  You had to sign up and reserve a table beforehand and they had all the tables covered in pink table cloths and gave out Hershey's kisses roses.  Jon said they also had a guy singing the whole time.  Adeline loved it!

And last, but not least, I think it's the cutest thing when a baby stands on their tip toes!

Don't you?
