Playing Hooky

Adeline and I played hooky from church this morning.  The last time she ran fever was around noon yesterday so she hadn't been fever-free for 24 hours in time for church.  However, she was feeling much better and the weathermen kept saying it was supposed to rain all afternoon, so I figured we better get out of the house while we could.  While Jon was at church, Adeline and I went to the park down the road.

 See the deer?

We did more walking around than sliding today since it was only me with her.  It ended up not raining all day and we've played outside a lot.  Adeline is feeling much better and has not run fever all day!  Now it's time to watch some Oscars with my hubby.  The only thing that could have made this day better is if I could have gone to church.  :)

Come on Spring!

I don't know about you, but we're ready for Spring here at the Richey house.  Adeline woke up with a fever Thursday morning. She had a runny nose and cough pretty much all week, but I assumed it was teeth since she always gets that with teeth, but I knew that wasn't it when the fever started.  Of course it was the day after my mom left, so Jon and I both had to miss some work to take care of our sweet girl on Thursday.  I took her to the doctor where he ruled out the flu and said it must just be some virus.  Jon stayed home with her the rest of the afternoon.  Her fever keeps going up and down, so I guess we'll be staying home from church tomorrow.  :(
My sad, sick baby

We're so ready for Spring to be here that we did a little shopping for some fun Springy/Summery stuff today.  (I know I shouldn't have gotten her out of the house, but we were stir crazy and she wasn't running fever at the time we left.)

We got this cute little outfit at Wal-Mart for $8!

Please pray for a speedy recovery for our girl and for Spring to come soon!

So Much Fun!

The fun hasn't stopped all weekend at the Richey house.  Adeline and I started off our Friday with play group at Abby and Ava's house.

It is so fun to be in a house full of small children and watch how they interact and play, but it can also be very overwhelming!

Afterwards we took a nap and waited for Pappy & Nana to arrive.  We met them at the Catfish Hole for supper then headed home for some bowling & tug-of-war.

Today we hit the ground running.  My mom and I cleaned out and reorganized my dresser, armoire, and closet (with a little help from Adeline).
We did the majority of it during nap time of course.  :)

Before nap, though, we headed to Fayetteville for lunch and some play time at the park.  We all had a blast.  Adeline is growing up so fast!  She seemed like such a big kid out there playing.

I had to show you how fearless she was.  She'd go right up to the slide & just dive down it head first!

This scared me to death, but she absolutely loved it.  I would put her in it on her bottom, but somehow she'd come out on her stomach.  She slid down it I don't know how many times.

She got sufficiently dirty today.

She did NOT want to leave the park, either.  She threw a major fit all the way to the car.  She then slept nearly 3 hours after we got home.  We went for another walk when she got up and played on another playground.  We were so happy to see nice weather today!  Pappy and Nana time is so much fun!

Texas Christian University (SUYL - Alma Maters)

I don't participate in all of Kelly's SUYLs, but my Horned Frog pride wouldn't let me pass this one up.  I went to Texas Christian University in Ft. Worth, Texas in the Fall of 2002.  I graduated 4 too short years later, in May 2006.  I used to laugh at how Aggies are "brain washed" to love their school like crazy, but I have to admit that I'm bordering on that craziness with TCU.  I made some wonderful, life-long friends there, lots of memories, and even managed to earn a degree amidst all the fun.  :)  Not only do I love my alma mater, I love the town it is in.  Fort Worth is a big city with a small town feel.  It is chock-full of delicious Tex-Mex restaurants and exciting culture.  If I didn't love my life so much here, I'd be back in Ft. Worth in a heartbeat.

A few facts about TCU:

  • It is a small private university with a total enrollment of 9,000
  • It has 118 undergraduate areas of study, 56 masters, & 21 doctoral
  • 84% of faculty members hold the highest degree in their discipline
  • It was founded in 1873
  • Estimated annual cost is $41,000
  • Their colors are purple & white
  • Their mascot is a Horned Frog
They are also the 2011 Rose Bowl Champions and finished 3rd in the nation.  I was even more proud to call myself a Horned Frog when Andy Dalton, their quarterback, gave all the glory to God at the end of their big game.

Hot & Sweaty, but cheering on our Frogs

Adeline has been cheering on the Frogs since birth...I just hope tuition increases slow down so we can maybe afford to send her there.  :)

Sunday & Monday

I have a few pics I need to get on here so I'll recap the last two days for you.  Yesterday was a typical Sunday.  We went to church, napped, and enjoyed family time.  After our nap I woke up in a cooking mood so I made some banana nut bread and a lot of veggies for Adeline.  She really wanted to see what was going on, so we let her sit on the countertop while I cooked.  She stayed out of trouble for the most part.

She also spent some time in Tulip's bed.  :)

Today I woke up to find this from my sweet hubby.  I told him on Friday that all I wanted was a cookie cake!  He did a great job!

Poor little Adeline had to go to her 15 month appointment today and get some shots.  Her stats are as follows:
  • Weight: 22lb, 3oz - 45%
  • Height: 32.75in - 95%
  • Head Circumference:  19in - 95%

I decided before we went that I was going to start the tradition of a sweet treat after shots.  She thoroughly enjoyed her strawberry banana smoothie and would only share a few sips with her momma.
It was also around 60 degrees today so we took a walk/ride around the block.  It was so sunny she had to wear her shades.
When Daddy got home we took another, longer walk then we cooked a delicious Valentine's meal.  Adeline got a package in the mail from her great-grandparents and spent the rest of the evening loving on her new teddy bear.

I hope you all enjoyed your Valentine's Day as much as I did!  I'm dreading work tomorrow since I've only worked one day the past TWO weeks.  I hope I can make it a full week (or a full 3 days).
