Last 2 Days of 2010

The past two days have been pretty slow and relaxing.  Thursday we did some visiting with both sets of greats, some napping, and some eating.

Hanging out with Pops & MiMi
Jon trying out his new grill

While Jon was cooking, Adeline walked all over my parents' yard & tried climbing on everything she could.
 Checking out Pappy's new shop

Today we did more visiting, napping, and eating.

Matt, Heather, and Abigail came over this morning so we could give Abigail her birthday gifts.  Adeline didn't understand why she couldn't open the presents.

Afterwards we visited my cousin Amanda and had lunch at my MeeMaw's.  Adeline napped this afternoon while I hung out with my parents.

Tonight Jon is in Omaha kicking off his extended family's big Christmas weekend so I'm spending NYE alone.  I'm about to go to sleep about an hour and a half early, but I'm fine with that.  I just wish I had my hubby to snuggle up next to.  Adeline and I are joining him at Richey Christmas tomorrow morning!

Family Time

Since we didn't take any vacations this past year, Jon and I decided to use our days to stay in our hometown for a full week after Christmas.  Jon only had to work Monday and Tuesday of last week and I was off on Thursday, so that's when we headed into "The Big NB."  We are staying here until Sunday, so that's a full 10 days of family time.

Monday we went to visit one of my MIL's friends so Adeline could visit with her horses.

She was a little afraid at first, but warmed up pretty soon.

That night Jon and I went on a date to see a movie and my parents kept Adeline.  It was nice to spend an evening with my hubby with free babysitting.  :)

Tuesday, Jon and his dad went camping and I went to get a massage.  My parents hung out with Adeline while I was getting pampered.

She got to visit with her Tater Tot (my mom's sister) & her MiMi (but no pics) some too.

She fed the donkey and he bit her hand!  It didn't break the skin though so I think she'll survive.

That night it rained and rained and rained.  My mom cooked some yummy vegetable stew and we stayed home and played.

Today I went to lunch with one of my BFFs while Adeline stayed with her Tiny & Big T.

I have so thoroughly enjoyed watching Adeline interact with her grandparents.  It does my heart good to see how much she's loved.  It seems like she has absorbed so much this week, too.  I want to document some of the cute new things I've noticed her doing this week.
  • She has learned how to howl like a coyote & snort like a pig
  • The other day as they were looking at the tree, my MIL said, "So pretty" and Adeline looked at her & pointed to herself.  I guess she's associated "pretty" with herself.  :)
  • My mom plays a game with her where she wraps her up in a soft blanket and holds her like a little baby and rocks back & forth saying, "Oh my sweet baby." Last night Adeline had the blanket and I was sitting on the floor and she came and got in my lap & said, "baby"
  • She has learned to sign "please" without me demonstrating it first
  • She has consistently been giving her dolls kisses when asked
  • She said "shoes" the other day
I'm sure there are more.  Every day this week I've noticed something new she's picked up.  We are all having a great time, but I am looking forward to getting home and not living out of a suitcase and sleeping in my own bed.  We have been going back and forth between each of our parents' every 2 nights.  I'm ready to unpack and stay settled for a while.  :)

Four Christmases

We had four Christmas celebrations in 24 hours.  First, we celebrated on Christmas Eve at my grandparents' house (my mom's side of the family).
Not wanting to be held...Adeline, her daddy, & her Pappy
Teething (I just noticed today that her top left molar has broken through.  I guess that's what she was working on here.)
 Relaxing
My Uncle David letting her open a present early.  He tried so hard to get her to like him.  She was his best friend by the end of the night because he kept giving her dollar bills every time she came to him.
Who knew it could be so entertaining watching a baby open gifts?
 The grandkids (+ a girlfriend) & great grand-daughter
My mom & her 2 sisters with their husbands
My grandparents & their only great grandchild
Destroying some tissue paper

We spent the night at my parents' and Christmas morning with them.  Unlike her first Christmas, Adeline woke up at 5:30 and was ready to tear into some gifts!
Waiting on Nana to pass out stockings
Checking out the real REASON for the season
 Time to open presents!
Watching her new fish tank in her new chair
Nana made blueberry pancakes for breakfast..yummy!
Tunnel from Momma & Daddy

After breakfast, we had lunch at my other grandma's house (my dad's mom).

Getting to know her cousin Makya..too bad they hardly ever get to see each other
 Oh Nana is so funny!
The little ones (some are grands, some are great-grands).
 More presents to open!
 Learning how to write
The big ones (minus a few Houstonites)

Afterwards, we went over to Jon's parents where we all took a nap.  When Adeline woke up, we began the Christmas festivities there.  We had chili and opened more presents.
She knows this is where her Tiny keeps dishes for her to play with

When all the presents had been opened, she crawled in this box by herself and tried to close it around her, then she pulled wrapping paper on top of her.  She's the best present I've ever gotten!
Uncle Shane got a new camera lens..we played with it a lot

She was too excited to eat when everyone else was eating, so she ate later going between her daddy & her Big T
 Helping Daddy open his presents
 Rocking with Tiny
Playing in the box some more
Trying out Mommy's new present...we love it!
Looking at the pretty Christmas tree
I said, "Give Baby Jesus kisses"
 Peek-a-boo!
Sweet Angel

We had such a great time celebrating Christmas with all our family.  We are still enjoying our vacation and time with family.
