Adeline's Birth

Adeline has arrived! We were schedule for a c-section on November 12, but she just wouldn't wait until then. On Sunday, November 8, 2009, my water broke and she was born via c-section that evening at 6:42pm. It all happened so fast, but I wouldn't have had it any other way.

As I was getting ready for church Sunday morning, I thought my water broke, so Jon and I headed to triage to check it all out. They tested the fluid and it was found to be negative for amniotic fluid. We came home and I laid on the couch most of the day. I had not slept well the night before because I was having pretty intense Braxton Hicks, not painful, just intense enough to disturb my sleep. Around 3:30pm we called Jarrod to see what he was up to and we invited him over to our house. I got up from the couch and started washing dishes with Jon. He was making me laugh about something when all of a sudden I experienced something like what had happened that morning, but a lot more fluid. I changed clothes and kept experiencing small little spurts of this fluid, but I was sure it was not amniotic fluid since it was negative that morning. When Jarrod arrived, I told him about it and the three of us discussed for about 30 minutes whether or not we should go back to the hospital. We finally decided we should go in just to be sure. Well, this time it really was amniotic fluid! We were completely unprepared. When we had gone to the hospital that morning, we had taken all our bags and camera, etc, but did not bring anything that afternoon. Jarrod had to go back to our house to get all our things so Jon could document Adeline's birth. We called our parents who panicked and jumped in the car. My parents were in Dallas since my mom had just completed the 3 Day Race for the Cure. The doctor said Adeline would be born within the hour. We had the c-section and everything went well. Our parents arrived about 10:30 that night.

Breaking the news to our parents that they wouldn't be there when she was born.
