Halloweekend 2010

We woke up to very cold temperatures Friday morning. I just love that about NWA..SEASONS! Adeline had an appointment with a dermatologist that morning, so she got to bundle up in her little pea coat.
I thought it was just too cute, so of course I had to get a picture.
Being silly

The doctor said she definitely has excema and he gave me some cream that is supposed to clear it right up. Let's hope so!

That night, we met some friends at Tuscany Square for a little Fall Festival. We ate at Chick-Fil-A and let Adeline play at The Little Gym. She had a blast!

Posing with the cow
She couldn't quite toss the bean bags in the holes, so she just decided to place them in there.
She LOVED crawling all over The Little Gym..I'm pretty sure she was the youngest kid there.
She got her first balloon. It is her new favorite thing. We've had to take it with us just about everywhere this weekend.

Saturday I had to work a few hours, but I was home in time to spend the afternoon with my sweet family. I think I need to get this girl a jungle gym.
She loves to crawl in, around, and through just about anything!
Cooking us some dinner
After Adeline went to bed, Jon and I had a little couch date watching How to Train Your Dragon. It was so nice to spend some couple time with our sweet sleeping baby in the next room. It's nights like that that make me stop and count my blessings.

This morning we went to church. Of course Adeline had to get another wear out of her cute pumpkin dress. (I'm sure it won't be the last time. Since it's not a jack-o-lantern, it'll last through Thanksgiving.)
She loves her rocking chair
Since Mommy's usually always behind the camera, we had to get one together this morning.

Then finally, it came time for Adeline's first trick or treating experience! We made a quick loop around our block, then got home in time to hand out candy to the kiddos.
Cute little bumblebee
Riding in her wagon
Checking out the goods
Her haul

We decided it wasn't fair for her to not get to eat any of her candy, so we let her have 2 M&Ms. She loved them..like mother, like daughter. :)
If you look closely, you can see a little green speck.

And finally, on the way home from church today, the boys we take with us taught Adeline how to be a Native American. We were able to catch it on video tonight.

I hope you all enjoyed your Halloweekend as much as we did!

Hometown Happenings

Before I tell you about my weekend, let me tell you about my Wednesday night. I went to bed not feeling so hot. At 12:30 I woke up running to the bathroom to throw up. This continued every 30 minutes until 5:30am! Jon started getting sick shortly after me. By 4am, I felt like I was on the verge of death. I was afraid I was becoming dehydrated and I just could not stop puking. I told Jon I NEEDED to go to the hospital. He kept telling me to wait until morning because we couldn't wake up Adeline and we didn't need to wake up anyone else. By 4:30, I think my exact words were, "Jon, I'm begging you. I have to go to the hospital." He called Jarrod and he came to my rescue. Jarrod picked me up about 5 and took me to the ER. Finally, at 5:45, I was given an IV with Zofran & lots of fluids (I was dehydrated). I felt better almost immediately, except being absolutely exhausted and achy all over. The doctors were never able to tell me what it was, so I'm sure it was just a stomach bug. I went home after about 2 hours. Juliet went over to help Jon with Adeline because he was drained. Jon and I spent the rest of the day napping whenever Adeline napped and scrubbing the house free of germs the rest of the time. We went to bed Thursday night still feeling pretty bad, but at least we weren't puking. Adeline only threw up once, so that was a HUGE blessing! I was so afraid I was not going to be able to drive to my hometown the next day and that I was going to miss my BFF's baby shower. However, I got a good night's sleep, and although I was still feeling nauseous on Friday, I knew I had to give it my best to make it to the shower.

Adeline and I made it to my parents' house in time for her afternoon nap and I took advantage of that time to catch a little nap myself. That night my parents and my MIL and us went out to eat at one of my favorite restaurants, but I couldn't bring myself to order anything more than a baked potato. Afterwards, we caught about a quarter and a half of my HS's football game.
Adeline got a picture with Larky the Lion!

That night I was up until midnight finishing up Little Lyla's onesies.
I think they turned out well!
I took some Fenergan to ease some of the nausea that was creeping back up and to help me sleep. Well, it had the opposite affect! It made me very tired and drugged feeling, but I COULD NOT sleep! I woke up every hour. Needless to say, this did not help my sickness any. But, I rallied because it was time for precious little Lyla's baby shower!
Don't you just love this cake?
Lots of yummy food

After the shower, Adeline and I headed to Squirrel Camp. Let me tell you about Squirrel Camp. It's a Richey family tradition. Jon's aunts and uncles started this about 30 years ago. It always takes place the last full week of October. Everyone that can takes off work and camps out a whole week and hunts squirrels. However, from what little I've been exposed to Squirrel Camp, not much squirrel hunting takes place. It appears to be more of a time to eat, shoot at random inanimate objects, play horseshoes, dominoes, and cards, and eat some more. I've only ever gone on a Saturday afternoon/evening. Jon does the whole roughing it in a tent and no running water thing, and one day I'm sure our kids will join him out there for a night or two, but not me, and not this year for Adeline. We didn't stay long because Adeline was pretty fussy and the weather was starting to get bad, but we were able to get our fill for the year. :)

I took my little cousin Isaac. He had a blast!

We stayed later than we usually do and went to my hometown church this morning. Adeline stayed in the nursery with my grandma. They had a good time together.
Posing before church
And this is why you never see bows in my child's hair anymore..they last about 10 seconds
Jon came in from camp in time for lunch. I love watching them play.

Adeline also got to spend a lot of time with my parents, but I didn't get any pictures. Probably because when they were entertaining her, I was recuperating on the couch. All in all we had a great weekend. I'm finally feeling better. I ate real food at lunch today and was even able to eat some Reese's on the drive home, so I think I'm on the mend! As for little Adeline, I'm pretty sure she's getting her 1 year molars. She has been exceptionally snotty and constantly chewing on her hands way back in her mouth. Getting teeth is hard work! Weekend Life

We have had a very enjoyable weekend. It was one of those weekends where we just spent a lot of time being a family. Friday night we ate dinner with the Davises and I shopped their garage sale pre-sale. :) Jon stayed out late that night watching a movie with some friends, so Adeline and I tried to let him sleep in the next morning. I made blueberry pancakes and Adeline made lots of food (and noise) in her little kitchen, so Daddy didn't get to sleep long. We were invited to a birthday party that afternoon that was right in the middle of Adeline's long afternoon nap. I had this bright idea to keep her up later before putting her down for her morning nap, but the plan backfired. She woke up at the same time she always does, therefore getting even less sleep.
A sleepy pic while I was trying to keep her awake that morning - she loves her Daddy

That afternoon we attended Adeline's very first birthday party. Little Noah turned 1! It was a Halloween themed party so all the kids wore their Halloween costumes. The party was outside and the weather was absolutely perfect!
Helga had everything decorated so nicely & she even had a TV set up for the Razorback game!
Adeline and her BFF Westin and their Daddies
Petting the neighbor's horses - what a great picture of all the dads & their sweeties
Adeline loves stuffed animals. She didn't understand why Westin had one on his head!
BFFs
Yummy Pumpkin
Birthday Boy having his first taste of cake
Now that's good stuff!

We spent the rest of the evening walking the dogs and hanging out at home. Today we went to church, out for lunch and spent the rest of the day home sweet home.

October 15

Today is Pregnancy & Infant Loss Remembrance Day.

This is near and dear to my heart because my sweet friend Katie lost her precious baby girl Reese Catherine last year. Today is also Katie's birthday. She had t-shirts made this year to honor Reese and all of you who have suffered from this tragedy. You have all been in my prayers today.
My mom came in town this week to attend War Eagle and we both wore our shirts as we shopped today.

We shopped until we dropped yesterday and today, then my mom headed back home this afternoon. Tomorrow we are attending Adeline's very first birthday party. We can't wait to celebrate with Noah!

And what is a post without a picture of our girl?

Thank you for the kitchen, Pappy & Nana
