Another Weekend Back Home

We traveled back to our hometown yet again this past weekend for a wedding. I was an honorary bridesmaid in one of my high school friend's wedding. My parents were in Houston, so we stayed the whole weekend at Jon's parents. Tiny & Big T got to spend a lot of quality time with their precious grandbaby.

Rocking with Tiny

Aunt Kiersten came to visit too.

Reading with Kiersten. This is one of Adeline's favorite things to do these days. She gets so excited when you read to her. She squeals and laughs and tries to turn the pages. My little girl is so smart!

Flower Children

Saturday we went for a brief visit to my grandparents'. Adeline even stayed with them a few minutes while Jon and I took a test drive in one of my grandpa's car that I may one day inherit. :)

We had a great time, but are very glad that we aren't making that trip again for a while!

On another note, Adeline learned Peek-a-Boo today. It makes me so proud!

Weekend of Firsts

We tried real food with Adeline this weekend. We made her pears and she was hesitant about them at first, but I think she likes them now. She also started sitting up on her own better. She has not mastered it, by any means, but she's getting better and better every day! A few pictures of our floor time this weekend:

And one last little one that's just too adorable not to share!

Cutting Back

This has been a week of cutting back for me. First of all, I cut about 12 inches off my hair!

I also decided that I need to start some time-saving strategies so that I can accomplish household tasks in a more timely manner. My first step towards cutting back on wasted time is this handy little grocery list.

I got the idea from someone else's blog. I'm hoping it will save a little time. I plan to laminate it, then just mark weekly what I need. Then after each trip, I'll erase and start over. My next idea is to put all our frequently used recipes onto index cards and on each card I'll also add suggested side items for each main dish. I think this will help with weekly meal planning.

The saddest part of my cutting back week, is that I've started picking up more work away from home. :( This means I'll be cutting back on time spent with my precious girl. I'm going to miss her so much, but I kind of need to work.

What was that, Mommy? You're going to work?

Oh how I'm going to miss seeing this beautiful girl all the time.

I'm sure both my girls will miss me equally when I start back to work. However, I know Adeline will be in good hands with Shannon, and Tulip will probably welcome the quiet time.

Back to sleep?

So, as you all know, Adeline is rolling over (all the time). Now I can't keep her on her back to sleep and it's really stressing me out! I'm sure this is a common problem, so I could use some advice. Should I just leave her alone or keep turning her over like I did all night last night? Yes, I'm exhausted. I should also add that she doesn't always turn her face to the side when she's sleeping on her stomach. Sometimes she tucks her arms up underneath her and sleeps with her face right in the mattress! She was also trying to snuggle up to the bumpers, so I took those out last night. Up until last week she would stay in the same spot we laid her down in all night long. Then she figured out how to roll over and she's all over the crib! I never know what direction her head will be in or what!

On a completely unrelated topic, we went and walked around Lake Fayetteville today with some friends and their precious daughters. I think Adeline got hot because she got very fussy towards the end and usually she LOVES being outside. Even though she was fussy, isn't she just the cutest little thing you ever did see? :)

Visiting Home

Adeline and I spent the weekend in my hometown. We went in for my BFF, Amanda's, bridal shower, but also got to visit lots of family while there. I'm going to go ahead and put a disclaimer out there. I wasn't very good about taking pictures this weekend. We saw lots of people that I didn't get any pictures of. I get so mad at myself when I do that! Anyway, we got there Thursday afternoon and we had dinner with Jon's parents (Tiny & Big T...no pictures). Friday, we visited with my grandma (MiMi), and still no pictures. MiMi is the one who has made Adeline all the cute onesies with As or other embellishments on them. (BTW, the cute pink bubble suit from the 5 month post was made by her Tiny) Friday night, we went to my other grandma's house and I finally decided to take some pictures.

Adeline and Ginga

Sucking on her toes. Her new favorite thing to do.

Saturday was the shower. Adeline was a bit fussy since it was right smack dab in the middle of her long afternoon nap. However, we still had a good time. (The following pictures have made me realize that I desperately need to do something about my hair!)

Clara (Amanda's sister) & me...notice the black and white

Saturday night, we cooked burgers at my parents' house for my aunt Jana, Barry, Conley, Tiny, and Big T. (and I only took one picture)

Adeline with her Tater Tot (don't ask)

While at my parents' house, we were trying to entertain Adeline and we found that she thought this little stuffed monkey was absolutely hilarious. We would hold other stuffed animals up to her, but none even made her crack a smile.

5 Months Old!

Adeline is 5 months old today! We spent nearly the whole day in the car on our way to New Boston, TX to see the grandparents and for my BFF's wedding shower.

At 5 Months, Adeline is:
  • Rolling over both ways
  • Sleeping without being swaddled - she started rolling over onto her face & couldn't get back over, so we had to start sleeping without the swaddle (the first 3 nights were rough)
  • Still sleeping 10-11 hours straight at night
  • Taking 4 naps a day (two 1 hour naps, two 30 minute naps)
  • Eating rice cereal at breakfast & dinner
  • Nursing 6 times a day (every 2 1/2 - 2 hours)
  • Wearing size 2 diapers
  • Wearing 3-6 month & 6 month clothes
  • Raising up on extended arms when prone
  • Smiling and laughing and talking A LOT
  • Holding her arms up or reaching out to familiar people to be held or picked up
  • Grabbing anything she can get her little fingers around & trying to get it in her mouth
  • Playing with and sucking on her toes
  • Sucking or chewing on her right thumb as much as possible
  • Briefly sitting up when supported by the Boppy
  • Stealing her Mommy & Daddy's heart daily!

Adeline is a roller!

Now Adeline is capable of rolling both ways! At her 4 month appointment, the doctor told me she should be rolling over from back to front by the time she's 6 months. I thought, there's no way. She's nowhere close to that, but she did it today about 5 times and she's not even 5 months old yet! I realize this video makes me look like a mean mom, but as of now, she'll only roll over when she's mad..haha.

Easter Weekend

We had a great Easter weekend. We started off the weekend on Thursday night since Jon was off work on Good Friday. We ate dinner outside that night and Adeline loved it.

We spent Friday morning cleaning house, then I had a pedicure while Jon watched Adeline. My parents got into town that afternoon around 4:30. That night we grilled hamburgers and Jarrod joined us. Saturday we went non-stop! We went to the Farmer's Market in Fayetteville and it was packed!

Adeline loved watching all the people and dogs. That afternoon we headed to the Promenade for a bit of shopping and dinner. This morning, we went to church then had a big Easter lunch at our house.

Uncle Shane, Jarrod, my parents, Shannon, Cody, and Westin joined us, but we were too busy chatting and holding babies to get any pictures!

Pretty basket and flowers I got at the Farmer's Market.

One last pic of my little girl!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter.

Spring Time Fun

We have had a great week at our house! We have tried to go outside every chance we get. Tuesday we met some friends at Lake Fayetteville and walked the trails. Adeline had such a great time. She LOVES being outside! She skipped her entire afternoon nap but didn't fuss at all because she was so enjoying taking in all the sites from her stroller. We've also gotten to break out some fun sun dresses and short sleeved clothes and that is always fun for Mommy. :) Now, on to some pictures:

We started our week by spending Sunday morning at church.

One of the many times in the stroller and being outside with the dogs.

Just this week Adeline has decided that she likes her jumper. We are looking forward to more fun in the sun!
