My Little Scooter

Adeline isn't quite crawling yet, but I just know it's going to be any day now. She hardly ever stays on her blanket anymore. She pulls her knees under her and moves them forward, but hasn't figured out how to coordinate her arms with that. I just love watching her little mind work.
Things she CAN do while trying to crawl:

Spin around in a circle on her belly in order to look at/reach for something

Push all the way up on her feet

Get into a sitting position (or really really close)

Scoot backwards like nobody's business

Give Tulip kisses

Almost there!

Hot Stuff

This weekend has been HOT! I know, I know..all you people in Texas don't feel sorry for me. We have had a blast this weekend. Mine and Jon's moms came in town Friday evening. We were invited to a party right at Adeline's bedtime, so of course, our moms jumped at the chance to come in and keep her. As soon as they got here, we all headed to PF Chang's where we met Jarrod, Shane, and Juliet.

Then, Jon and I headed to our party. Katie threw Jason a surprise birthday party with lots of dessert.
We had a great time!

Saturday, we shopped a little at the Promenade, then Jon and I went to see Shrek Forever After while our moms watched Adeline. It was so nice to get to go on 2 dates in one weekend!

This morning, we went to church and Jon and I worked in the nursery. Jon always dresses Adeline on Sunday mornings because I'm usually running late. I set out her clothes for her the night before. Well, this morning, Jon put a bow in her hair all by himself! I didn't even have one sitting out.
In the nursery, we had 9 crying 6-10 month olds. It wore us out! We didn't even stay for our connection group we were so tired. That age is hard because none of them want to get left, so they all cry when their moms leave then that makes the others cry. Our own was so sleepy and fussy she wouldn't let us put her down without screaming. She fell asleep in the car before we ever got out of the church parking lot. This afternoon, Jon did a little gardening while Adeline and Tulip watched.

I took pictures and did some laundry. :) Then we decided it was warm enough to try out the little pool her Pappy & Nana got her. She was a bit apprehensive at first, but then she decided she loved it.

Then she decided she wanted to drink it.

All wet!

Tulip loved the water too.

We've had a great weekend, but are all worn out! Looking forward to a relaxing evening.

6 Month Appointment

Adeline had her 6 month check-up today. The doctor said everything was great. Her stats are as follows:
  • Height: 27 3/4 inches, 95th percentile
  • Weight: 16 pounds, 60th percentile
  • Head circumference: 17 inches, 60th percentile
The sad part about today was the shot.

But it was only one, so not too bad.

Banana Love

We've been making our own baby food for Adeline. So far we've tried (in order):
  1. Pears
  2. Sweet potatoes
  3. Bananas
  4. Avocados
  5. Homemade rice cereal
  6. Mangos
  7. Bananas again
The first time we tried bananas she got a little rash on her face, so we stopped them. We decided to give them another try, and this time, no rash. We think the rash must have been from something else. She liked sweet potatoes and avocados, was pretty indifferent about pears & the homemade rice cereal, hated the mangos, and LOOOOVES bananas.

Weekends are my Favorite

Adeline has been in a much better mood this weekend. I'm so glad that she is feeling better. I think my girl is on the verge of crawling any day now. On Friday, I showed her how to pull her knees up under her, and she's been doing it herself ever since. She'll get up on her hands and knees & rock back and forth.

I just know she's about to take off any minute!

Saturday afternoon we headed to Sam's to pick up a few things and guess who was there! LAURA BUSH! I was so excited. She was there doing a book-signing, so of course I just had to see her. She was in the same sorority as me, so I mentioned that like any Theta would. :) She complimented Adeline on how pretty she is and how she loves her name and on her cute owl onesie that her Aunt Juliet made. It was a great experience! That evening, Jarrod, Shannon, Cody, & Westin came over and we made nachos. They were delicious, but of course, I didn't get any pictures.

This morning we went to church. I decided to try a bow in Adeline's hair since it's gotten so long, and it stayed!

She looked so grown up and adorable in her little pink bow.

This afternoon, we played in floor some more trying to get that crawling going. She loves daddy's kisses.
Then we all took a nap, then walked the dogs. Now we're about to settle down for the evening with some TV & pizza...yumm. :)

Teething Torture!

This past week has been terrible! First of all, I was sick all last weekend and into the first part of the week. Then Jon got sick and left town for work Monday-Thursday. Then on Tuesday, Adeline woke up with a runny nose. I went to visit her at Shannon's on my lunch break and she was miserable. Shannon said she hadn't been able to put her down all morning, so I cancelled my afternoon kiddos and took my sick baby home. We battled the runny nose, sneezing, and coughing all week. Oh, and the fussiness..let me just tell you about the fussiness!
This is the face I saw nearly all week. My poor girl was not happy unless I was holding her. It wore me out! Then, yesterday morning I stuck my finger in her mouth and lo & behold, there was a tooth! It's just barely through the gums and you can hardly see it, but it's there. Today, the fussiness is a bit better, but she's still got lots of snot. I think the other one is trying to break through too. I also think she probably had the same cold Jon and I had on top of teething. At least I'm hoping so, anyway. If all this is only because of the tooth, then I don't know if I can handle a whole mouth full of teeth! :)

My teething arsenal (none of which I found to be very effective).

I think she liked the mesh teether the best. We put some frozen peaches in there, and that seemed to keep a smile on her face for a few minutes at a time.

Bloggy Award & My Big Girl

Jessica, a "sister" from college, gave me a bloggy award yesterday. It's my first ever!

It made my day! I don't really know what to do, but I think I'm supposed to pass it on to someone else. So, I'm giving it to one of my all-time BFFs, Amber. We've been besties since 2nd grade and she just started a blog recently. I'm giving her this in hopes of motivating her to post more. :)

On another note, my girl is getting so big. I've been reading this book, Super Baby Food, and it says to give your 6 month old baby 4-8 ounces of water a day, so we've recently started that. Adeline just loves it, especially when we let her hold her own sippy cup.

Mother's Day Weekend

It was my first real Mother's Day today and I couldn't be more thankful for my precious girl who made me a mother. My parents came to visit and, although I've been sick all weekend, we had a great time. I really wanted to brunch at MiMi's today, but when I called on Thursday to make reservations, they told me they were already full. So, we went there yesterday, instead. It was YUMMY!

She had just woken up from a nap and was giving everyone the evil eye.

Pappy making her laugh with a funny monkey & monkey noises.

Doesn't she look so big in her hoodie & tennis shoes?
We spent the majority of the day playing with Adeline, then while she napped, my mom and I headed to the craft fair in Springdale. Yesterday afternoon, we had a picnic at a local park. It was a little cool outside, but we enjoyed it nevertheless.

Today, at church, we dedicated Adeline to the Lord. It was such a special experience.

She was a perfect angel the whole time. I want to wish all of you mothers out there a very happy mother's day. I hope it has been wonderful for all of you. Being a mother is the best thing in the world. I wouldn't trade it for ANYTHING else.

Three generations. I love you, Momma!

My sweet parents

My little family that I love love love so much!

Half a year old!

Today Adeline is 6 months old! I can't believe how fast time has flown by.

I think she might be teething, so we had a really hard time getting a smile today.

What she's doing at 6 months:
  • Sitting up! This is such a relief to me. I've been so worried that she wasn't going to sit up on time, but today she can do it! The pediatrician told me at her 4 month appointment that she should be sitting up by 6 months. Well she hasn't been. She would only for a few seconds and mostly only when she would prop herself up with her hands. But today, it was like she thought, "Well the dr said I should sit up by today, so I guess I'll do it."
  • Sleeping 10-11 hours at night.
  • Taking two 1 1/2 hour naps a day. Sometimes she'll take a 2 1/2 hour nap in the afternoon.
  • Nursing 5 times a day.
  • Eating fruit or veggies twice a day.
  • Wearing size 2 diapers.
  • Wearing 6-9 months clothes.
  • Scooting all over the floor - INTENTIONALLY! She'll see something she wants and try to scoot towards it, but usually ends up scooting backwards.
  • Loves to look at books.
  • Playing with some toys with their intended purpose: shaking rattles, spinning her parrot on her exersaucer, pulling the string on her pull-toy to get it closer to her. (but mostly tries to put stuff in her mouth)
  • Loves being outside.
  • Loves dogs.
  • Staying with Ms. Shannon while Mommy works 3 times a week.
  • We think she's trying to get some teeth.
We love our precious girl so very very much!

Family Life

We've had a great weekend together as a family. Jon's parents came to visit to celebrate Jon's and Shane's birthdays, and we got to spend a lot of time with just the three of us in our little family. Some pictures of our time together:

Jon put up a swing for Adeline outside. She LOVES it! Her usual fussy time is 7:00-7:30 every night, but we've found if we spend this time outside, she's happy as can be.

Playing on the floor with Tiny.

Entertaining Uncle Shane

She loves her exersaucer!

This morning, Jon and I were in the kitchen before church and Adeline was on her blanket with her toys in the living room. Or so we thought...she learned to scoot backwards across the floor! It was hilarious, and she was so proud of herself.

She did it again this afternoon, and got her legs wedged under the couch.

After lunch, we took the big dogs to a nearby creek today and let them run and play. Like I said earlier, Adeline absolutely loves being outside, so with this nice weather, we spend as much time outdoors as we can.

Jon carried her in the Baby Bjorn. It's a steep climb, so the stroller wouldn't work. He said he thinks she's about at the max weight limit on that thing, though. :)

After that, Adeline and I took a 2 1/2 hour nap. Then we went on stroller ride with all the dogs to a nearby school and playground.

We had a great weekend. I love my little family so much!

Oh, and my peonies are blooming:
