Hello, May

May 1st was warm and pretty..the calm before the storm.

My dad often jokes that the girls learned everything they know from Tulip (our dog).  I sent him this picture last week and he replied, "Maybe you should get a pet monkey so they can learn some skills closer to a human."

We played outside with bubbles at Puggles last Wednesday night.

Then the cold weather hit.  We spent the rest of the week inside because not only was it cold, but Annabel was recovering from strep throat.  She brought a book to Adeline and Adeline said, "I'll read that book to you, Bel Bel, but I don't know if you can fit in my lap."  Annabel got in her lap anyway.

Can you believe this?  Snow in May!  I covered my peonies and thankfully they survived.

Anything you can do, I can do better....  Annabel refuses to be left out of any activity.

Watching it snow...

I made the mistake of getting the beach toys down from the attic the other day.  Adeline started asking at least 237 times per day if we were going to the beach yet.  Finally on Saturday I decided to make a paper chain, after she came to me and said, "Ok, Mommy!  I got the swimming-poots out and a swim diaper for Annabel!  We ready to go to the beach!"  The paper chain hasn't eliminated all the questions, but it has helped.

These sisters can be so sweet sometimes.  Adeline said, "let's give hugs, Annabel!"

I love these Sunday pictures.

My girls made me some cute Mother's Day gifts at KDO this week.

And it's finally warm again!  We spent all morning at the park with Mrs. Heather and Charlie yesterday.

And all evening outside at home.

Adeline said, "I like you pretty polka dot glass.  I drink out of it too when I get big?"  My first thought was, "Yeah you aren't getting your hands on these for a long time," but then I thought what's the point in that?  It's a glass.  So what if it breaks?  It's not going with me where I'm going.  Besides, we have to wait until we're older for so many things.  Why should drinking out of a pretty glass be one of those?

God has been reminding me lately to stay eternally-minded.  Why place value on things that are of no eternal importance?  Showing my daughter my love and confidence in her abilities is much more important to me than a broken glass or cleaning up a mess.  It's not always easy and I'm sure I fail at it more than I succeed, but by the grace of God, I'm trying!

So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:18
